According to information posted on the Saint Birinus Mission’s Facebook account, an Antiochian Synod’s decision in October 2025 means they are no longer permitted to use the Western Rite.
The faithful are now waiting for the October 2026 Synod, at which the Western Rite is scheduled to be discussed. They hope that the Synod will approve regular Western Rite celebrations.
According to the same source, there is currently no canonical Western Rite Orthodox community in the UK.
